During DBS Elegance in Tradition 2024

I still remember the very first time I hit “publish” on a blog post back in college. It wasn’t polished. It wasn’t perfect. In fact, if I reread it now, I’d probably laugh at my writing style and how unsure I was about what I wanted to say. But that small act—putting my thoughts out there for anyone to read—was the beginning of something that would later become a big part of who I am today.

Back then, I never really thought about “developing an online character.” I was just a student with a lot of stories to share, whether it was about school life, random thoughts, or experiences that felt meaningful in the moment. Blogging was my way of making sense of the world around me. Slowly, I found a rhythm. I realized I liked writing in a voice that was conversational, like I was talking to a friend over coffee. I wanted my readers to feel at ease, to feel seen, and maybe even smile while reading.
The real turning point came in 2018, when I joined the Davao Bloggers Society (DBS). If college was the time when I discovered blogging, DBS was where I truly learned how to nurture it. Being part of a premier blogging community opened doors I never thought possible. I remember attending my first DBS event, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. But as I met fellow bloggers—people who were as passionate as I was about storytelling—I realized I had found a family.

Through workshops, collaborative events, and countless conversations with my DBS peers, I started shaping my “online character” more intentionally. I've come to understand the importance of combining personal voice with purpose, and how true authenticity can leave a more powerful impression than any polished appearance. Little by little, I noticed how readers and followers began responding. Some would comment with encouragement, others would message me saying they could relate to my posts. Those small interactions built a bridge between my words and real people, and that’s something I will always treasure.

Fast forward to today, and my blogging journey is still ongoing. For the past year, I’ve been based in Manila, but I continue to remain an active DBS member. And honestly, it feels like such an honor to still be part of this community, even from afar. DBS has been instrumental in shaping me as a blogger, and I carry the lessons and friendships I gained there with me wherever I go.

Looking back, I realize that my online character isn’t something I consciously crafted in one go. It’s a reflection of years of writing, growing, and being surrounded by supportive communities like DBS. It’s imperfect, always evolving, and still learning to find the right words. But that’s what makes it beautiful—it’s authentic, and it’s mine.

During Together We Can - A DBS Community Drive 2024

To my readers and followers, thank you for staying with me through the years. Every click, every comment, and even every quiet read means more than I can say. Your support has shaped me just as much as my own efforts have.

As I continue this journey, I remain grateful, hopeful, and open—for more stories to tell, more lessons to learn, and more growth both as a blogger and as a person.

Thank you for reading. Catch you in the next one!

GoPaint Worldwide Creating Activity 2025

Manila, Philippines (October 1, 2025) - In the GoPaint Worldwide Creating Activity 2025, a global painting competition honoring the future of digital creation, Huawei encourages artists from all over the world to let their creativity run wild and present their most audacious ideas. The competition, which is accepting entries until December 31, 2025, gives artists and enthusiasts a global platform to motivate viewers with digital animation and painting using Huawei MatePad tablets.

Powered by the GoPaint app, which is exclusive to Huawei, this potent digital painting program turns every MatePad into an endless creative workspace. With the use of sophisticated frame-by-frame capabilities, GoPaint's new Animation category this year enables artists to bring their illustrations to life. The competition offers new opportunities for artists who are keen to push the limits of digital art, from sketches that develop into compelling narratives to finished sequences created with expert accuracy.

Twenty Honorable Mentions will be given out in the competition, and each will receive an official certificate and $1,000 in prize money. Every submission has the opportunity to be featured at press conferences, art shows, international campaigns, or on social media. In order to put art in the hands of millions of people globally, some paintings can even be memorialized as items or backgrounds in HUAWEI Themes. Additionally, winners will have the opportunity to use video interviews to tell the tale of their creations, providing viewers with a close-up glimpse of the process and inspiration behind each piece.

Celebrating Global Creativity Through Digital Art

The GoPaint Worldwide Creating Activity 2025 calls on participants from around the world to submit original works across five categories: Digital Watercolour & Ink, Animation, Sci-Fi Art, Cutting-Edge Paintings, and Narrative Art. Each category showcases a unique form of artistic storytelling, spanning traditional-inspired brushwork, imaginative futuristic scenes, and expressive frame-by-frame animation.

All participants aged 18 and above may submit up to 30 artworks, giving creators the freedom to experiment and share their range of talents. All works must be created using any HUAWEI tablet. Submissions must be uploaded through the official contest website in JPG, PNG, or MP4 format, with original EXIF trait data intact. Image works should be under 30 MB at 300 dpi, while animations may be up to 400 MB with 1080p resolution.

Each entry must include a short description (30–100 words) to capture the story behind the artwork. Shortlisted participants may also be asked to submit a time-lapse or process recording of their creation.

Honoring Artistic Excellence with Global Recognition

Winners will be selected by a distinguished panel of international judges who will review submissions through a multi-stage evaluation process, not only for their technical execution, but also for their ability to inspire, tell stories, and redefine what digital art can be.

Among them is Dezio, a French urban artist and co-founder of Urban Art United (UAU), whose works bridge contemporary street art and community collaboration. Alongside him is Laura Gallon, co-founder of the Arte Laguna Prize and board member of MoCA Italia, who brings her curatorial expertise to the panel. They are joined by acclaimed film director Jia Zhangke, President of the China Film Directors’ Guild, whose cinematic eye adds a powerful dimension of storytelling. Completing the panel is Victo Ngai, a world-renowned illustrator recognized by Forbes U.S. and the first ethnic Chinese recipient of the Hamilton King Award from the Society of Illustrators. Together, their diverse artistic expertise and experiences ensure that every entry showcases the highest potential of digital artistry.
